Parthenope is the mermaid of Greek myth who, rejected by Ulysses, threw herself into the sea for love: the waves carried her body to the shores of the gulf, where the city that took her name was born — Naples. This illustration reinterprets in a modern key the mermaid who founded Naples, portrayed on the rocks with the Gulf, Castel dell’Ovo and Vesuvius behind her, on a surface of brushed aluminum with an industrial, contemporary character.
The Night version, intense in tones of blue and orange, wraps the gulf in the warm glow of lights reflecting on the water.
